Chordboard
The chordboard plays chords without keys. Seven big pads laid out in the key of the song, a strip of modifiers, and a transport — so a guitarist covering a keys part, or anyone who doesn't play piano, can hold down real chords with one finger.
Chord Pads
Each pad is a chord from the song's key, in order, so the pads under your fingers are the chords the song is actually made of. Tap one to play it; the pad stays lit while it sounds.
Feel/Bass
To the left of the chord pads are two buttons that each enable and configure different aspects of how the resulting chord is played.
Feel
This enables feeling in the chord by mimicking different human-like attributes. Tap and hold to open the Feel Menu to adjust this to your liking.
Bass
In addition to playing the chord, enabling bass will play the chord with a left hand. This adds bass using different techniques. Tap and hold to adjust these techniques in the Bass Menu.
Modifiers
The strip found below and to the left of the chords provides modifiers that alter the chord being played. These change the chord variation to include suspended and seventh chords. You can choose between: 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9.
Pattern
Chords could be played all at once when the pad is pressed, but it would be quite boring. You can change the pattern to change how the chord is voiced in time with the beat clock.
Once
Plays the chord as a single hit.
Arp
This option arpeggiates the chord by playing its notes in a variety of ways in time with the beat clock. Tap and hold to open the Arp Menu to configure that pattern
Strum
This option plays all the notes in a rhythm similar to a guitar. Tap and hold to open the Strum Menu to configure the strum pattern.
Octave
To the right of the patterns is a button you use to define the octave in which the chords are played. By default, it chooses the 4th octave. The value is expressed as a letter and a number with the letter representing the root of the key. You can tap to choose from a list including octaves 0 through 7.
Transport
To the right of the chord pads are transport buttons that plays chords found in your song instead of manually pressing chord buttons.
- Play Chords begins playing the chords in the chart, or in the selected section.
- Next Chord advances the playing chord to the next one in the song, looping to the beginning of the song or section.
- Clear stops playing the current chord.
- Panic silences everything if a note ever gets stuck.
Beat Sync
The button on the right of the transport allows you to enable beat sync which aligns the chords to the system beat clock. The beat clock tempo is set by the song or other inputs. When enabled by tapping, the orange light will flash to indicate beats and the downbeat. When enabled, you can tap on a chord pad or advance to the next chord, and the chord will wait to play on the next beat or measure. You can switch it back off to play the chords the instance you tap the buttons.
Menu
Tap on the menu button in the upper right corner of the panel to open the menu and configure additional settings for the chordboard.
