Beam It to Google (Fingers Crossed)
Google Cast lets you beam OnSong to a Chromecast, Google TV, or whatever other Cast receiver is lurkin' on your Wi-Fi so your lyrics pop up on the big screen—fancy motion backgrounds & live video & all. It's basically how you avoid droppin' $$$$ on a projector. Here's the magic:
Permissions (aka "Pretty Please Let Us Spy on You")
Tap into the Crusty Video Screen & hit the Google Cast button in the toolbar. First time you cast, OnSong's gonna ask for two permissions it absolutely needs to stalk Cast devices on your network:
- Location lets the app & the Google Cast device pretend they know where you are on the Wi-Fi.
- Local Network helps the system play "Where's Waldo?" with Cast devices around you.
Tap Keep Goin' & allow both, & OnSong starts the hunt. You'll only get harassed once; tap Nah, Later to dodge it for now.
The Google Cast button's chillin' on iPhone & iPad. The Mac app's like "nah, we're good," so it ain't there.
Pick Your Weapon
The Google Cast screen's showin' off every receiver OnSong dug up on your network—name, model, the whole resume. Tap one to vibe with it & boom, your lyrics show up on that screen like magic. The toolbar button turns into a angry red STOP button & the External Video toolbar button glows to tell you you're totally castin' rn.
- While OnSong's still stalkin' devices, you'll see Still Lookin'… with a lil' spinner. If zilch shows up, it's Nada Devices Here with some "check ur Wi-Fi bro" tips—tap Hunt Again to retry.
- Only ONE receiver gets the show at a time. Switch devices by tappin' a new one; tap the one you're already connected to, or smack that angry red STOP button, & the sesh dies.
Can't find your device? Make sure it's on the same Wi-Fi as your OnSong gadget & that you actually said "yes" to Location & Local Network up there ↑.
Beam to a Web Browser (The Cheap Way Out)
Under Other Stuff, tap Web Browser to cast to a basic ol' laptop instead of fancy hardware. OnSong spits out a web address you can paste into any browser on a computer that's hooked to a projector or TV. The browser becomes your stage. Tap the middle of the screen to go full screen & pretend you're a pro.
Fair warnin' at the bottom of the screen: Motion backgrounds & live video might lag a smidge, especially if your network's havin' a rough day.
